Fury Warrior is one of the strongest physical damage dealers in WotLK 3.3.5a once it reaches high-end gear. The specialization scales extremely well with weapon damage, Armor Penetration and Critical Strike, while its actual gameplay revolves around keeping Bloodthirst and Whirlwind on cooldown and managing enough Rage to use Heroic Strike or Cleave without delaying core abilities.

10. Rotation
Opener
- Pre-pull: build rage if possible, then use Bloodrage pre-pull (and you can add Berserker Rage right before pull for an extra “rage/enrage window”).
- Pull: if your raid needs armor reduction and nobody else is doing it, start stacking Sunder Armor (up to 5). Otherwise open Bloodthirst → Whirlwind.
- Pop Death Wish + Recklessness (+ trinkets).
Priority
- Keep/finish 5 stacks of Sunder Armor only if assigned / needed (use it in “empty globals”).
- Bloodthirst on cooldown.
- Whirlwind on cooldown.
- Use Slam only when Bloodsurge procs.
- Dump excess rage with Heroic Strike (or Cleave for 2+ targets).
- Execute is low priority (use mainly if nothing else is available and you won’t rage-starve).
Stats and gearing
Reach 5% Hit from gear together with 3% from Precision for the 8% special-attack Hit requirement. The dual-wield white-hit cap is much higher, so additional Hit is not completely worthless, but it should not be stacked at the expense of stronger endgame damage stats once special attacks are reliable.
26 Expertise is the soft cap and removes boss dodges when attacking from behind. Position behind the boss whenever encounter mechanics allow it so parries are not part of the attack table.
Armor Penetration is one of Fury's strongest late-game stats. The 1400 Armor Penetration Rating target represents 100% passive armor penetration and is especially valuable because a large portion of Fury damage comes from physical attacks. Strength remains highly valuable throughout gearing, particularly before the full passive ArP cap is practical.
Approximately 58% Critical Strike represents the high-end gear level listed here rather than a universal requirement. Crit has particularly strong synergy with Fury because Heroic Strike critical hits refund Rage through Glyph of Heroic Strike, helping sustain frequent rage dumps.
Core gameplay
Bloodthirst and Whirlwind form the core of the single-target priority. Use both as soon as their cooldowns allow, with Bloodthirst normally taking priority when they become available together.
Bloodsurge procs make Slam instant. Use the proc during an available global without delaying the next important Bloodthirst or Whirlwind cast.
Heroic Strike is the main single-target Rage dump. Because it replaces your next white main-hand attack rather than using a normal global cooldown, it can add substantial damage while you continue the normal ability priority. However, queueing Heroic Strike too aggressively at low Rage can leave you unable to cast Bloodthirst or Whirlwind when they become available.
For two or more targets, replace Heroic Strike with Cleave when the additional target will be hit. Glyph of Cleaving increases Cleave to three targets and is therefore particularly valuable on cleave-heavy encounters.
Sunder Armor and raid utility
If nobody else is responsible for the major armor-reduction debuff, build and maintain five stacks of Sunder Armor. Use spare globals where possible rather than repeatedly delaying Bloodthirst or Whirlwind.
If another Warrior or raid member already maintains the required armor reduction, those globals can remain dedicated to the normal damage priority.
Pummel provides a reliable interrupt when the encounter requires it, while Shattering Throw can contribute to coordinated raid burst when its armor reduction is useful.
Cooldowns and burst
Death Wish is the primary Fury damage cooldown. Use it during periods where you can maintain uninterrupted boss uptime and combine it with major raid burst windows when encounter timing allows.
Recklessness gives guaranteed critical strikes to several special attacks. Its short effect makes ability timing important: activate it when Bloodthirst and Whirlwind are ready to benefit rather than during movement or downtime.
Engineering fits Fury particularly well because Hyperspeed Accelerators add controllable Haste and Nitro Boosts help reduce lost melee uptime during movement-heavy encounters.
The consumable setup supports the same burst pattern. Flask of Endless Rage and Strength food provide consistent damage, while Potion of Speed is strongest during a short high-output window. Indestructible Potion is also unusually valuable for Fury because the additional Armor converts into Attack Power through Armored to the Teeth.
Execute phase
Execute is not the center of the Fury rotation in WotLK. Even below 20% target health, Bloodthirst and Whirlwind remain important and should not automatically be replaced by continuous Execute spam.
Use Execute when Rage and ability timing allow it without delaying stronger priority abilities or starving yourself of the Rage needed to continue the normal rotation.
Glyph of Execution can be used for encounters focused primarily on single-target damage, while Glyph of Cleaving provides more value whenever additional targets are available.
Cleave and AoE
Fury is especially effective when two or three targets remain close together.
Whirlwind naturally strikes multiple enemies, while Cleave replaces Heroic Strike as the Rage dump. With Glyph of Cleaving, a single Cleave can hit three targets, making it the stronger third major glyph for encounters where sustained cleave is important.
Maintain the normal Bloodthirst and Whirlwind priority instead of abandoning the rotation simply because additional enemies appear. The main adjustment is spending excess Rage through Cleave rather than Heroic Strike.
For larger packs, Engineering explosives can add additional AoE damage without changing the core Warrior rotation.
Rage management
Rage management separates smooth Fury gameplay from a rotation that repeatedly stalls.
At high gear levels, frequent critical strikes and incoming raid damage can generate enough Rage to queue Heroic Strike very often. At lower Rage, however, leave enough resources available for Bloodthirst and Whirlwind.
Bloodrage can provide additional Rage before or during combat without consuming a normal damage global. Berserker Rage can also help with Rage generation when its normal utility is not required by an encounter.
The goal is to avoid both extremes: sitting at maximum Rage wastes potential Heroic Strikes, while dumping too aggressively and missing a Bloodthirst or Whirlwind costs more damage than the extra Heroic Strike provided.
