Regardless of the boss, a Demo warlock always has two key tasks:
- Maintain Demonic Pact with maximum uptime while aiming for the highest possible spell power value on the buff (details are covered in a separate guide).
- Keep the Shadow Bolt debuff on key targets up 100% of the time.
Your first spell on the boss should always be Shadow Bolt (start casting 1–2 seconds before the pull).
During execute, you’re also responsible for refreshing this debuff — mages do NOT keep it up with Scorch.
Additional boss-specific duties
Gunship Battle
- Don’t leave your pet on the enemy ship.
Professor Putricide
- Place your Demonic Circle under the table so you can jump there if you’re targeted by the green ooze.
- Melee also stack on this Demonic Circle.
Blood Prince Council
- Apply Curse of Tongues to the active prince.
- Help keep the kinetic bombs up if the RL assigns you to it (by default hunters usually handle them).
Blood-Queen Lana’thel
- You can drop the flames on a Demonic Circle near the wall.
Sindragosa
- Apply Curse of Tongues before she starts casting Blistering Cold.
- After the pull-in, you can use your teleport to jump back to ranged.
The Lich King
- Apply Curse of the Elements to every Val’kyr Shadowguard.
- Refresh Curse of the Elements on the Lich King during every transition so mages keep the +13% spell-damage bonus.
- Place your Demonic Circle on the edge of the platform in your sector so you can return if a Val’kyr grabs you (the warlock is usually not focused).
Halion
- Apply the Curse of Weakness to the big elemental.
- Abuse your Demonic Circle for fast repositioning.
- Watch your pet’s cleave: it can pull the small elementals. If that’s a problem, turn cleave off.
