How the text is shortened
Abbreviated Status Text changes the text displayed on Blizzard health and mana bars rather than creating a new unit-frame system. Its Interface 30300 package is version 1.2.1, uses AbbreviatedStatusDB, and includes an Ace-based options panel. The addon is useful when a bar is wide enough to show a number but not enough to show the full default wording.
Open the addon options and choose the abbreviation behavior for health and mana text. The change is visible directly on the affected status bars: large values are reduced to a shorter readable form while the bar still represents the full amount. This is a display-format change, not a change to health, mana or combat calculations. Configure it before a raid and compare the result on player, target and party frames; frames supplied by another unit-frame addon may use their own text code and therefore may not be affected by Blizzard-bar hooks.
The options belong to the display addon, not to the unit-frame data itself. If a frame continues to show the full value, that frame is probably drawing its own text and is outside the Blizzard hook. This limitation is useful to know before changing every setting: the addon can shorten supported health and mana labels, but cannot force an unrelated frame implementation to use its formatter.
The addon affects supported Blizzard status text only. A custom unit frame can expose its own formatter and remain unchanged, which is a source-specific limitation rather than a failed health or mana update.
