Open /bindpad, drag an action into a slot, then assign the key. Test the binding before removing the action from your visible bars.
Creating a BindPad binding
BindPad 2.2.4 provides a separate place for items, spells and macros that the player wants to bind without putting another visible button on an action bar. Its Interface 30300 package saves data in BindPadVars. Drag an item, spell or macro into a BindPad slot, select that slot, and press the desired keyboard combination in the binding interface. The slot remains the object that the key invokes.
This is useful for rarely used abilities such as engineering items, consumables, mounts or utility macros. After creating a binding, test it outside combat and verify which action-bar page or modifier is currently active. BindPad does not remove Blizzard’s secure-action restrictions: protected actions and bindings cannot be freely changed while in combat, and a conflicting key on another bar can still win depending on the active binding state. Delete or replace the slot entry when the macro changes rather than creating several indistinguishable copies.
BindPad is especially useful for keeping an item or macro available while preserving visible bars for rotational skills. The slot itself is not a second action bar and it does not provide a new icon to click in combat. Keep the binding stable, then use the normal key press; changing the slot or protected binding belongs outside combat.
Use a distinct modifier for BindPad entries that are not part of the normal rotation. This avoids overwriting a visible action-bar key while keeping an emergency item or utility macro reachable when the protected action system permits it.
