FocusMagicAssign is a lightweight addon for mages that helps organize Focus Magic assignments in a raid. Instead of manually deciding who should buff whom, the addon scans the current raid and prints the assignments in chat.
This is especially useful when several mages are present or when the raid composition changes before a boss pull.
How to use FocusMagicAssign
To generate the current Focus Magic assignments, type:
/fm
The addon will scan the raid and display the assignments in chat.
It is best to run /fm shortly before the pull, once the raid composition is finalized. If a mage joins, leaves, or is replaced, run the command again to generate updated assignments.
FocusMagicAssign only provides the assignment information. Each mage still needs to cast Focus Magic on the appropriate player manually.
Why Focus Magic assignments are useful
Focus Magic increases the target's spell critical strike chance by 3%. When the target critically hits with a spell, the mage who cast Focus Magic gains an additional 3% spell critical strike chance for 10 seconds.
Because Focus Magic cannot be cast on yourself, raids with multiple mages can benefit from having clear assignments prepared before combat.
Installation
- Download the FocusMagicAssign archive.
- Close World of Warcraft.
- Extract the addon folder into World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns.
- Start the game and make sure FocusMagicAssign is enabled in the AddOns menu.
If /fm does not work, check that the addon is enabled and that its folder is not placed inside an extra nested directory.
Run /fm again whenever the raid composition changes to keep the Focus Magic assignments up to date.
