KiwiFarm-3.3.5-backport

KiwiFarm is a farming-session tracker for the WoW WotLK 3.3.5a client. The production source is the KiwiFarm backport version 2.18-wotlk with interface version 30300. It records money and loot while a session is active, keeps kill and item counts, and shows the instance-reset state that matters when farming dungeons repeatedly.

What a session records

The main window identifies the current zone and session duration. During a session, KiwiFarm counts mobs killed and items looted, separates cash picked up from money represented by items and quest rewards, and calculates the current gold total and gold per hour. Item money can also be grouped by item quality, so a player can see whether a route is producing mostly vendor trash, valuable uncommon items, or higher-quality drops.

The addon keeps more than the temporary counter. When a session is finished, its data can be added to total, daily, and per-zone records. This makes the Statistics view useful for comparing separate visits to the same farming area instead of relying only on the numbers from the current run. The database is saved in KiwiFarmDB and can contain the character/server profile, session data, zone records, loot entries, and configured price values.

Item values and Auctionator support

KiwiFarm does not treat every item as having one universal market price. Its price configuration can use vendor values, per-item or per-quality values, and supported price providers. The source contains an Auctionator compatibility path for WotLK-era Auctionator APIs, including market and disenchant values when the required Auctionator functions are available. If Auctionator is not installed or has no data for an item, the displayed estimate depends on the other enabled source rather than becoming a guaranteed auction result.

For meaningful route comparisons, keep the same price method while testing both spots. A gold-per-hour number based on vendor values answers a different question from one based on Auctionator market estimates, and a market estimate can change independently of the items actually sold.

Instance reset tracking

On WotLK, KiwiFarm tracks the five-instance-resets-per-hour limit used by the client. The panel can show resets already counted, resets remaining, the last reset timing, and the time until the oldest reset leaves the rolling hour. The addon can also mark used instances and offers a reset-all action for eligible instances. This is a convenience for managing the lockout state; it does not bypass Blizzard's reset limit.

Reset data is separate from loot statistics. A player can finish a farming session without erasing the reset history, or use the reset action when leaving instances before starting another dungeon cycle. The current implementation also handles reset data at server level for WotLK-era clients, while the same source contains different logic for older expansion clients.

Practical farming workflow

1. Before starting a route, open KiwiFarm with /kfarm or /kiwifarm, verify the current zone, and choose the configured item-price sources. If comparing routes, use the same source and similar session boundaries.
2. Start the session from the main window or the session command. During the run, watch duration, kills, items, cash, item value, gold total, and gold per hour. The reset section is especially important for dungeon farming.
3. When stopping temporarily, pause the session so time and loot are not mixed with an unrelated activity. When the route is complete, finish the session to add its values to total, daily, and zone statistics and clear the temporary counters for the next run.
4. After several runs, compare the per-zone records together with duration, kills, item count, and gold/hour. Keep in mind whether the total used vendor prices or Auctionator data before deciding that one route is actually better.

Commands and controls

The addon registers both /kfarm and /kiwifarm. Confirmed command forms are:

• /kfarm show and /kfarm hide show or hide the main window.
• /kfarm startstop toggles session start and pause.
• /kfarm startfinish starts a session or finishes the active one.
• /kfarm config opens the configuration menu.
• /kfarm minimap toggles the minimap icon.
• /kfarm resetpos resets the main-window position.

The main window can be dragged with the left mouse button. Right-click opens its configuration menu, while Shift-click on the window performs the reset-instances action. The minimap button also toggles the window with a normal click and opens its menu with a right-click.

Limitations and troubleshooting

• Gold per hour is calculated from the money recorded in the active session and its elapsed time. It is not a complete character-profit calculation: repair bills, travel time outside the session, auction deposits, and later sale results are not automatically subtracted.
• Item value is an estimate controlled by the configured sources. If Auctionator data is missing, stale, or unavailable for the current item link, compare runs using vendor or manually configured values instead of treating the estimate as confirmed sale income.
• If loot or money is missing, check that the session is running. KiwiFarm listens to the client loot, money, and quest-reward events while the session is active; items received before the start or after the finish are not retroactively added.
• If the zone statistics look mixed, finish one route before moving to another zone. Completed data is grouped by the session zone, so an interrupted run that crosses zones is harder to compare.
• If the reset counter looks wrong, allow the client and addon to process the instance transition, and remember that the limit is a rolling hourly window. The reset-all control changes instance lock tracking and should not be used accidentally while a farming cycle is still active.

KiwiFarm is a WotLK 3.3.5a backport, not a modern retail farming tracker. Its item values depend on the local client APIs and optional price data, and custom-server loot or item information may not provide the same values as the original game data.

Installation

1. Place the KiwiFarm folder with KiwiFarm.toc at its root inside World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns.
2. Enable KiwiFarm at the character-selection screen and use /reload after changing addon files.
3. Open the window, check the price and notification settings, and run a short test session before relying on long-term statistics.
