SmartTrack is a Hunter utility for the WotLK 3.3.5a client. The supplied archive is version 1.1, Interface 30100, authored by Myw, with Ace3 embedded and SmartTrackDB as its saved variable. Its job is narrow: while the Hunter is fighting an attackable creature, it can change the built-in tracking ability to match the target's creature type.
What it changes
The archive includes mappings for the tracking spells Track Humanoids, Track Beasts, Track Demons, Track Dragonkin, Track Elementals, Track Giants and Track Undead. When a supported target is selected, SmartTrack reads UnitCreatureType("target"), finds the matching localized tracking spell, checks whether that tracking is already active, and uses the built-in tracking API to switch it when necessary.
SmartTrack reacts to three events: entering combat, leaving combat and changing target. At combat start it remembers the currently active tracking and evaluates the target. During combat, a target change can trigger another evaluation. A dead, ghost, friendly or non-attackable target is ignored. Critters, totems and other creature types that are not present in the archive's locale table do not cause a switch. If the target is lost, the addon does not invent a new tracking choice; the previous tracking remains active.
Controls and restrictions
The configuration is added to Blizzard's Interface Options through AceConfig. The four source-defined toggles are Enable in PvP, Out of combat, Remember tracking and Damage Bonus Only. By default, automatic changes are limited to combat, and PvP instances are excluded unless the PvP option is enabled. When Remember tracking is enabled, SmartTrack stores the tracking active before combat and attempts to restore it after combat, except while the PvP guard is active. Out of combat automation can be enabled separately, although the source warns against combining it with Remember tracking.
There is no slash-command registration in the supplied Lua, and no separate movable tracker frame. SmartTrack changes the normal Hunter tracking state rather than displaying a new aura or target panel. The Damage Bonus Only option is implemented as an additional gate around the automatic switch; its exact behavior follows the source's existing tracking-bonus check and should be tested with the 3.3.5a client rather than treated as a general tracking optimizer.
Practical use
A Hunter can leave the desired manual tracking active, enable SmartTrack in Interface Options, and enter combat against a supported creature. The addon then selects the corresponding creature tracking without requiring the Hunter to open the tracking menu between targets. After the fight, Remember tracking can restore the pre-combat choice. For PvP, friendly targets, unsupported creature types or manual control, keep automation disabled or use the relevant restrictions; this build does not provide a command-based override or a broader class-independent tracking system.
Installation
Install the supplied SmartTrack folder in Interface\AddOns and enable it for the Hunter character. The archive includes its Ace3 libraries and locale files; no separate dependency download is declared.
