WA_SafeGuard

WA_SafeGuard protects WeakAuras data on WoW 3.3.5a servers from corruption after a forced disconnect.

It creates a compact backup of healthy WeakAuras data, checks it on login, and automatically restores the backup if the main SavedVariables file is damaged.

Why it is useful

When two WoW clients use the same account, the first client may be forcefully disconnected. During shutdown, WeakAuras.lua can be truncated and all auras may be lost. WA_SafeGuard keeps a separate, smaller backup that is written before the large WeakAuras file.

Installation

1. Download the latest release.
2. Copy the WA_SafeGuard folder to World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns/.
3. Enable the addon on the character selection screen.
4. Install it while your WeakAuras are still healthy and type /reload.

Important: if your auras are already lost, reimport them first. The addon prevents future loss but cannot recover data that was never backed up.

Commands

• /wastatus - show WeakAuras health, backup size and backup age
• /wasave - create an immediate backup
• /warestore - restore from the last valid backup

Automatic behavior

• On login with healthy auras, the backup is created or updated silently.
• On login with corrupted auras, the addon restores the last valid backup and asks you to type /reload.
• On logout or zone change, the backup is updated only if the current data is healthy.
• If you add important auras during a session, use /wasave to back them up immediately.

• Designed for Warmane and other 3.3.5a private servers

To reduce the risk of corruption when using two clients, type /reload before logging into the second client.
