Holy Paladin is a powerful single-target healer built around Holy Light, Beacon of Light and Sacred Shield. Its greatest strength is keeping one or two tanks alive through heavy sustained damage while Glyph of Holy Light converts large direct heals into additional healing for nearby raid members. Strong Holy Paladin gameplay also depends on active Mana management through Intellect, Divine Plea, Seal of Wisdom and cooldown timing.

Stats and gearing
Intellect is one of the most valuable Holy Paladin stats.
It increases maximum Mana, Critical Strike chance and Spell Power through Holy Guidance. A larger Mana pool also increases the value of percentage-based Mana recovery such as Divine Plea, Replenishment and several other effects.
This is why Intellect remains extremely valuable even when Spell Power, Haste and Critical Strike are already high.
Haste is the primary throughput stat for reducing Holy Light cast time.
676 Haste Rating is an important soft-cap reference when Judgements of the Pure and standard raid Haste buffs are active. At this point the global cooldown reaches approximately one second, while Holy Light is already considerably faster than its base cast time.
Around 1115 Haste reduces Holy Light to approximately a 1.2-second cast under the same normal raid conditions.
Haste beyond the global-cooldown soft cap still improves Holy Light because the spell can continue becoming faster even after instant abilities have reached the one-second GCD floor.
3300+ Spell Power provides strong high-end throughput. Spell Power increases Holy Light, Flash of Light, Holy Shock, Sacred Shield and the healing distributed through Glyph of Holy Light.
Around 40%+ Critical Strike provides strong late-game scaling. Critical heals increase throughput and restore Mana through Illumination, although Crit should not replace Intellect or useful Haste simply to reach a specific percentage.
Mp5 provides reliable Mana regeneration while casting and remains useful on long encounters.
Spirit has very little value for Holy Paladin because normal raid healing leaves almost no opportunity to remain outside the five-second rule long enough to benefit from Spirit-based regeneration.
Beacon of Light
Beacon of Light is the defining Holy Paladin healing mechanic.
Place it on a tank or another player who will receive continuous heavy damage.
Direct healing cast on other party or raid members is also transferred to the Beacon target, allowing the Paladin to support two players simultaneously.
A common setup is to place Beacon on one tank and directly heal the other tank. Holy Light then keeps the actively healed target alive while Beacon transfers healing to the second tank.
If only one tank is taking significant damage, Beacon can remain on that tank while direct heals are used on injured raid members.
Keep Beacon active continuously during encounters where the target remains important.
Glyph of Beacon of Light extends its duration by 30 seconds, reducing the Mana and global cooldowns spent refreshing it.
Do not wait until Beacon expires during a dangerous tank-damage phase. Refresh it during a quieter period before the remaining duration becomes critical.
Sacred Shield
Keep Sacred Shield active on a target receiving frequent damage, usually a tank.
When the target takes damage, Sacred Shield creates an absorb effect. The absorb can trigger again periodically while the main Sacred Shield buff remains active.
Sacred Shield also greatly increases the Holy Paladin's Flash of Light Critical Strike chance against the protected target.
Only one Sacred Shield from the same Paladin can be active at a time, so place it where the repeated absorbs will provide the most value.
Refresh Sacred Shield before it expires rather than allowing tank mitigation to disappear during heavy damage.
Sacred Shield works especially well with Flash of Light and Infusion of Light, allowing Flash of Light to provide additional healing over time on the shielded target.
Judgements of the Pure
Maintain Judgements of the Pure throughout combat.
Casting a Judgement activates a large Haste increase for one minute.
This Haste is essential to Holy Paladin gearing because it dramatically reduces Holy Light cast time and contributes to reaching the one-second global-cooldown soft cap.
Judge early in the encounter and refresh the buff before it expires.
Enlightened Judgements increases Judgement range, allowing Holy Paladin to maintain the buff without moving into melee range.
Judgement is particularly convenient during movement because it is instant and can refresh Judgements of the Pure while normal Holy Light casting is temporarily impossible.
Do not allow the Haste buff to fall off unnoticed. Losing it makes every Holy Light significantly slower.
Holy Light
Holy Light is the primary healing spell.
It provides extremely strong single-target throughput and should handle most dangerous tank damage.
When Mana is healthy and meaningful damage is occurring, Holy Light is generally the default cast.
Begin casting before the tank reaches dangerously low health. Holy Paladin performs best when incoming damage is anticipated rather than when every Holy Light begins only after a large hit has already landed.
Cancel the cast if the target is already fully stabilized and the heal would provide no useful healing.
Continuous unnecessary Holy Light spam can consume Mana rapidly, but being too conservative during dangerous boss damage can allow the tank to die before the next heal lands.
The correct balance depends on incoming damage, encounter length and available Mana cooldowns.
Glyph of Holy Light
Glyph of Holy Light causes Holy Light to heal up to five nearby friendly targets for 10% of the amount healed on the primary target.
This gives Holy Paladin valuable passive raid healing without changing the main tank-healing rotation.
Positioning matters.
The splash targets must remain close to the player receiving Holy Light, so healing a tank positioned near the melee group can generate substantial additional raid healing.
The glyph becomes especially powerful during encounters where melee players repeatedly take raid damage while standing close to the tank.
Do not change the primary healing target purely to chase splash healing when tank survival is at risk.
Treat the additional healing as a benefit generated by correct Holy Light usage rather than as a replacement for the main single-target role.
Flash of Light
Flash of Light is the fast and inexpensive direct heal.
Use it during lower-damage periods when Holy Light would cause excessive overhealing or unnecessary Mana consumption.
It is also useful when a player needs healing immediately and a full Holy Light cast would arrive too late.
Flash of Light becomes especially effective on the Sacred Shield target.
A Holy Shock critical strike activates Infusion of Light, which can dramatically reduce Flash of Light cast time. With the full talent, the next Flash of Light becomes instant.
When Flash of Light is cast on a target carrying your Sacred Shield, Infusion of Light also creates additional healing over time.
This combination is useful for maintaining efficient tank healing during lower incoming damage without continuously paying the cost of Holy Light.
During serious tank burst, however, Flash of Light should not replace the much larger throughput of Holy Light.
Holy Shock
Holy Shock is the primary instant emergency heal.
Use it when movement prevents normal casting or when a player needs healing immediately.
Its direct healing is lower than Holy Light, but the instant cast can prevent deaths that a longer spell would not reach in time.
Holy Shock critical strikes activate Infusion of Light.
With Infusion of Light, the next Flash of Light receives a major cast-time reduction, while the next Holy Light gains additional Critical Strike chance.
This gives Holy Shock value beyond the initial instant heal.
During movement, a useful sequence can be:
Holy Shock → instant Flash of Light if Infusion of Light procs → continue repositioning → return to Holy Light once stationary.
Avoid using Holy Shock automatically on cooldown when there is no useful healing to perform.
Infusion of Light
Infusion of Light is triggered by Holy Shock critical strikes.
The proc changes the next direct heal and gives Holy Paladin much greater flexibility.
Use the Flash of Light benefit when immediate mobility or a fast spot heal is valuable.
Use the Holy Light Critical Strike bonus when heavy tank damage requires maximum throughput and you can safely complete the cast.
On a Sacred Shield target, the Flash of Light interaction also creates additional healing over time.
Do not hold Infusion of Light so long that another Holy Shock critical strike could overwrite the opportunity.
Healing two tanks
Holy Paladin is particularly strong when two tanks are taking simultaneous damage.
Place Beacon of Light on one tank.
Directly cast Holy Light on the second tank.
Healing on the directly targeted tank is mirrored to the Beacon target, allowing one cast to support both tanks.
Sacred Shield should normally remain on the tank who gains the most from its repeated absorption and Flash of Light interaction.
When one tank temporarily stops taking damage, direct healing can move to injured raid members while Beacon continues supporting the active tank.
Monitor both health bars rather than assuming Beacon alone will always be enough to handle the secondary tank.
Divine Plea
Divine Plea restores 25% of maximum Mana over 15 seconds.
It is one of the strongest Mana tools available, but it also reduces healing done by 50% while active.
Do not activate Divine Plea blindly during intense tank damage.
The best uses occur during reduced incoming damage, transitions, boss downtime or moments where other healers can temporarily cover the reduction in throughput.
Because the Mana returned scales with maximum Mana, Intellect increases the value of every Divine Plea.
If Divine Plea must be used during meaningful damage, combine it with healing cooldowns to compensate for the penalty.
Avenging Wrath increases healing done and can partially offset Divine Plea.
Divine Illumination can also reduce Mana consumption without reducing healing throughput and may be preferable during dangerous periods.
Plan Divine Plea uses throughout the fight rather than waiting until the Mana bar is almost empty.
Seal of Wisdom
Seal of Wisdom is the normal Mana-focused seal.
While active, melee attacks have a chance to restore 4% of maximum Mana.
When encounter positioning permits it, standing within melee range and attacking the boss between healing globals can provide substantial Mana recovery.
This becomes especially effective with a large Intellect-based Mana pool.
Do not move into dangerous melee mechanics purely to gain Seal of Wisdom procs.
Use melee attacks when the encounter safely allows it.
Glyph of Seal of Wisdom reduces the Mana cost of healing spells by 5% while Seal of Wisdom is active, making it particularly valuable for a Holy Light-heavy setup.
Keep the correct Seal active throughout combat.
Judgement and Mana
Judgement serves several purposes.
It activates Judgements of the Pure.
Judgement of Wisdom can provide Mana support when the raid requires it.
Judgement of Light can provide additional raid healing when another Paladin is not already maintaining a stronger or more appropriate Judgement.
Coordinate Judgements with other Paladins so the raid receives the required effects without unnecessary duplication.
Holy Paladin does not need to judge constantly. The primary personal requirement is keeping Judgements of the Pure active.
Movement periods are excellent opportunities to refresh the buff without sacrificing a Holy Light cast.
Divine Illumination
Divine Illumination reduces the Mana cost of spells by 50% for 15 seconds.
Use it during periods of intensive Holy Light casting.
Unlike Divine Plea, Divine Illumination does not reduce healing output, so it is particularly valuable during dangerous phases where Mana must be conserved without sacrificing throughput.
The cooldown can support a prolonged sequence of Holy Light casts during Bloodlust/Heroism or another heavy-damage window.
Use it early enough during a long encounter that another activation can become available later.
Do not save it until the Mana pool is already nearly empty.
Avenging Wrath
Avenging Wrath increases healing done by 20% for 20 seconds.
Use it during predictable periods of heavy tank or raid damage.
It can also help compensate for the healing penalty from Divine Plea when Mana regeneration is urgently required during active damage.
Avenging Wrath applies Forbearance-related restrictions that can interfere with some defensive abilities.
Plan its use around encounter mechanics when Divine Shield or another Forbearance-related ability may soon be required.
The best healing cooldown is one that prevents a dangerous situation before players reach critical health.
Divine Favor
Divine Favor causes the next eligible Holy healing spell to critically strike.
Use it when guaranteed additional healing will matter.
Holy Shock is an especially useful target because the guaranteed critical strike also activates Infusion of Light.
This can create a strong emergency sequence:
Divine Favor → Holy Shock → Infusion of Light heal.
Divine Favor can also be used with Holy Light when a large guaranteed critical heal is required.
Avoid holding the cooldown for an entire encounter if a dangerous healing window provides a clear opportunity to use it.
Aura Mastery
Aura Mastery temporarily doubles the effect of most active Paladin auras and gives Concentration Aura additional protection from Silence and Interrupt effects.
Select the aura according to the incoming mechanic.
Fire Resistance Aura can be strengthened before heavy Fire damage.
Frost Resistance Aura can help against Frost damage.
Shadow Resistance Aura can help against Shadow damage.
Concentration Aura combined with Aura Mastery protects the raid from Silence and Interrupt effects for the duration.
Aura Mastery should be planned around specific encounter mechanics rather than used randomly for personal healing throughput.
Coordinate it with the raid so another defensive cooldown is not wasted at the same moment.
Divine Sacrifice and Divine Guardian
When included in the talent build, Divine Sacrifice and Divine Guardian provide powerful raid protection.
Divine Sacrifice redirects part of party damage toward the Paladin.
Divine Guardian strengthens the defensive value of the ability and can provide substantial raid-wide damage reduction depending on the exact talent setup.
Use the cooldown before predictable raid-wide burst.
Because redirected damage can be dangerous to the Paladin, defensive abilities may be required to survive the effect safely.
Divine Shield can be combined with raid-protection strategies when encounter mechanics and Forbearance allow it.
The defensive utility of a Holy Paladin can prevent more damage than any direct heal could restore afterward.
Lay on Hands
Lay on Hands provides an enormous instant emergency heal.
Use it when a tank or another critical player would otherwise die before a normal heal can land.
The cooldown is extremely long, so it should be reserved for genuine emergencies or a planned encounter moment.
Glyph of Lay on Hands reduces its cooldown and improves availability across a raid session.
Lay on Hands also has useful Mana interactions depending on the glyph setup.
Do not hesitate to sacrifice one normal healing global when Lay on Hands is the only reliable way to prevent a death.
Hand of Sacrifice
Hand of Sacrifice redirects part of another player's incoming damage to the Paladin.
It is extremely useful before predictable tank burst.
Use it proactively instead of waiting until the tank is already at critically low health.
The redirected damage can become dangerous during strong boss attacks, so pair it with a personal defensive when necessary.
Coordinate Hand of Sacrifice with other tank cooldowns to avoid stacking several major defensive effects on the same minor damage event.
Hand of Protection
Hand of Protection makes the target immune to physical attacks.
It can save a healer or caster who gains threat from a physical enemy.
It can also remove or prevent certain physical debuffs.
Do not use it carelessly on a tank or physical DPS player because protected targets cannot perform normal physical attacks and enemies may immediately change targets.
The ability also applies Forbearance, which can affect later Paladin defensive options.
Divine Shield
Divine Shield provides complete immunity to many forms of damage and harmful effects.
It is one of the strongest personal defensive abilities in the game.
Use it to survive mechanics that would otherwise interrupt healing or kill the Paladin.
Immunity can also allow continued healing while the rest of the raid handles a dangerous mechanic.
Because Divine Shield interacts with Forbearance, plan it around Avenging Wrath and other Paladin abilities that can restrict later immunity usage.
Survival is especially important for Holy Paladin because losing Beacon, Sacred Shield and continuous tank healing can rapidly cause a raid wipe.
Cleanse
Cleanse removes a Poison, Disease and Magic effect from a friendly target when appropriate effects are present.
Removing a dangerous debuff often provides more value than casting another direct heal.
Track encounter-specific dispels and know which effects must be removed immediately.
Do not spam Cleanse on effects that cannot or should not be dispelled.
Holy Paladin's defensive utility is strongest when healing and dispelling decisions are both made according to encounter mechanics rather than health bars alone.
Movement
Holy Paladin is strongest while stationary because Holy Light requires casting time.
Plan positioning before heavy damage begins.
During movement, use Holy Shock for immediate healing.
An Infusion of Light proc can provide an instant Flash of Light.
Beacon of Light, Sacred Shield, Judgement and Hands can also be refreshed or used while moving when necessary.
Nitro Boosts provide an excellent way to complete large repositioning quickly and resume Holy Light casting.
Avoid waiting until a mechanic has already reached your position before moving. Early controlled movement costs fewer Holy Light casts than emergency repositioning.
Glyph of Holy Light
Glyph of Holy Light causes every Holy Light to provide additional healing to nearby players.
It is the primary raid-throughput glyph for a Holy Light-focused build.
The glyph requires no separate rotation.
Continue healing the correct primary target and allow nearby raid members to benefit naturally from the splash.
Positioning the tank near injured melee players increases its value considerably.
Glyph of Seal of Wisdom
Glyph of Seal of Wisdom reduces healing spell Mana costs by 5% while Seal of Wisdom is active.
This is extremely valuable for a Holy Light-focused build because Holy Light is powerful but expensive.
The glyph also fits naturally with Intellect stacking and melee Mana recovery through Seal of Wisdom.
Keep Seal of Wisdom active to avoid losing the Mana reduction.
Glyph of Beacon of Light
Glyph of Beacon of Light increases Beacon duration by 30 seconds.
The longer duration reduces the number of global cooldowns and the amount of Mana spent refreshing Beacon during long encounters.
It also creates more flexibility during movement and dangerous healing phases because Beacon maintenance is required less frequently.
Track the extended duration and refresh it during safe periods rather than allowing it to expire during heavy tank damage.
Mana management
Holy Paladin has an extremely large Mana toolkit, but Holy Light can consume resources rapidly when used without planning.
Intellect increases the Mana pool and makes percentage-based recovery effects stronger.
Divine Plea restores a large amount of Mana but reduces healing.
Divine Illumination reduces spell costs without reducing throughput.
Seal of Wisdom can restore Mana through melee attacks.
Glyph of Seal of Wisdom lowers healing costs.
Judgement maintains the Haste needed to cast efficiently.
Mana should be treated as a resource to spend across the entire encounter.
Finishing the fight with a nearly full Mana bar usually means additional Holy Light throughput could have been used.
Running completely out of Mana long before the fight ends means cooldowns or spell selection were too aggressive.
The goal is to use the available Mana recovery tools early enough that strong healing can continue until the encounter ends.
Healing priority
Holy Paladin does not follow a strict healing rotation.
Maintain Beacon of Light.
Maintain Sacred Shield.
Maintain Judgements of the Pure.
Use Holy Light as the primary high-throughput heal.
Use Flash of Light during low damage or when Mana efficiency matters.
Use Holy Shock when movement or immediate healing makes an instant spell valuable.
Use Infusion of Light according to the next healing requirement.
Use Divine Plea during safe Mana-recovery windows.
Use Divine Illumination during expensive high-throughput periods.
Use defensive Hands and raid cooldowns before predictable dangerous mechanics.
The correct spell depends on incoming damage rather than which ability has been unused for the longest time.
Consumables and healing windows
Flask of the Frost Wyrm provides consistent Spell Power and increases healing throughput.
Intellect-focused food can provide additional Mana and scaling when maximizing longevity.
Potion of Speed provides temporary Haste and can create an extremely fast Holy Light window during severe incoming damage.
Runic Mana Potion is the safer choice when encounter length and Mana sustainability are the limiting factors.
Hyperspeed Accelerators provide another controllable Haste cooldown.
Use Haste effects during periods where rapid Holy Light casting will produce meaningful healing rather than simply activating them when the raid is already stable.
Large Haste windows also consume Mana more quickly because more Holy Lights can be cast in the same amount of time, so throughput cooldowns and Mana planning should always be considered together.
